Tempered Glass Panels for Fireplace Doors

Tempered glass is heat-treated safety glass commonly used in fireplace doors, bi-fold fireplace doors, fireplace screens, and select older gas fireplace applications. It is stronger than standard glass and is designed to break into small pieces rather than large sharp shards.

Tempered glass is best for lower-heat applications where the glass is not exposed to direct flame or extreme temperatures.

Tempered Glass Panel Thickness

Tempered glass is commonly available in several thicknesses for fireplace door and screen applications:

• 1/8 inch
• 3/16 inch
• 1/4 inch

The smallest custom tempered glass size we can make is 12" x 4". Standard tempered glass is clear. If you need bronze or gray glass, specify that in the order request box.

Important Safety Note

Tempered glass should not be used in airtight wood stoves, pellet stoves, coal stoves, or fireplace inserts where the glass is exposed to direct flame. Tempered glass generally handles lower temperatures than ceramic glass. If your appliance produces higher heat, choose ceramic glass panel options.

Processing time: All tempered glass orders take 10–14 business days to process. Tempered glass is cut first, then heat-treated. Once tempered, it cannot be re-cut. For this reason, all custom tempered glass orders are final.
