At Total Hearth, family isn’t just part of our story;  it is our story. What began as a simple idea has grown into a thriving family-owned and operated business led by husband-and-wife co-owners Mike and Becky, supported by a team of relatives, friends, and passionate hearth experts. This is the story of how Total Hearth came to be and the people who make it special.

How It All Started

Mike and Becky aren’t just business partners, they’ve been married for over 30 years and have built both a family and multiple businesses together.

Before launching Total Hearth in its current form, they spent years co-owning and operating residential, automotive and commercial glass companies dating back to 1999. Gaining the experience and industry knowledge that would eventually shape Total Hearth.

Together, they have three children and are now proud grandparents, a role that means the world to them. Family is at the heart of everything they do, and Total Hearth is a direct extension of that.

What started as a small operation has grown into a true family business; one they hope becomes a lasting legacy for future generations. Their goal isn’t just to run a successful company, but to build something meaningful their family can be proud of for decades to come.

Mike’s Journey

In his younger years, Mike sold hearth products for a large fireplace company; long before Total Hearth existed. Later, he owned a glass shop for 20 years, and that business revealed a major industry gap: high-temperature ceramic glass was expensive, difficult to source, and nearly impossible to get quickly.

Seeing the need, Mike built a simple website and started selling ceramic glass online. It took off immediately. What started as a small project soon grew into a full business and eventually into what Total Hearth customers know today.

Becky’s Perspective

Becky also saw the same industry problems during their years running the glass shop, especially how difficult it was to source dependable pyroceramic glass. With a strong passion for organization and bookkeeping, she helped develop the structure and systems Total Hearth needed to grow. Together, she and Mike expanded the business from a simple online storefront into a full hearth supply company with a wide range of products and loyal customers.

Their combined experience is what makes Total Hearth unique.

Growing Into a True Family Business

One of the biggest joys for both Mike and Becky is seeing Total Hearth grow large enough to bring in family and close friends. Today, it’s not just a business it’s a family enterprise where everyone works together toward the same goal: offering reliable products and exceptional service.

“We have a wonderful team,” Becky says. “Everyone truly cares about helping customers and providing the best service possible.”

Mike agrees - his proudest milestone is having the people he loves work alongside him every day.

At home, Mike and Becky enjoy the warmth of two fireplaces; a Kozy Heat gas unit for quick heat and a Fuego Flame wood burner for those long, snowy winter nights. “There’s nothing like a warm fire during a snowstorm,” Mike says.

Becky loves lighting a fire in their wood-burning fireplace every fall and winter and makes it part of her seasonal routine. For both owners, a glowing hearth isn’t just part of the business it’s part of their home and the moments they enjoy together.
